Meet the trainers

How long have you been a personal trainer?
I have been personal training for eight years now but have had a fitness background from the age of 11.

I have been working for Absolute PT since February 2010. It’s been great being part of the group.

What made you decide to become a personal trainer?
My whole life has been around sports. I competed in martial arts from an early age and I still study the art of Shen Chi Do. So for me to pass on my knowledge and help people get fit and healthy was a natural progression.

How is it different from working at the big chain gyms?
What’s different working with Absolute PT to working in big chains is the amount of help and encouragement you get. Everyone is so much more friendly and helpful. You’re not selling anything or competing for business. You’re all there to focus on the clients and help them achieve their goals.

What type of training do you specialise in?
I specialise in fat loss and fitness.

I have designed my own programme of high-intensity training (H.I.T) with compound training to achieve maximum fat loss and fitness. It’s hard, it’s intense, but it gets results – quickly.

How do you keep yourself fit?
I study martial arts (Shen Chi Do) and also train what I teach to my clients – H.I.T training.

What has been your biggest success story as a trainer?
I wouldn’t say I have one single biggest success story. For me, whoever comes I’ve worked with has reached their goal and more. That’s my success. That’s why I do this.

I have met and worked with some truly inspirational people. People who have overcome cancer, amputations, high blood pressure, and MS amongst other things. Working with them, helping them achieve their goals, has been a real privilege.

What’s the most common gym mistake you see?
What I see day-to-day is people that do the same workout week in, week out with bad technique. You have to keep stimulating your mind and your body if you want to get in the best shape you can.

What would you say to anyone who thinks they can’t get in shape?
We can all make a difference to our shape and our fitness. It’s about finding what works for you. I can help you find it.

And finally… what’s your favourite comfort food?
This is a bad question, ha ha…. I love food, it’s a tough one. I guess for me would have to be chocolate. We all have our enemies… LOL.
